You're...At Home At
|
Why should adults get all the information?!
You're moving too and you are the one who will be in school all day.
So, just for you, here are some fun reasons why you will think our school
is the greatest!
Do something extra special and be recognized over the loud speaker on Fridays. Receive a certificate and put your name and sticker on your room's poster board in the hallway.
Fifth graders operate a store every Thursday at lunch
hour. They sell school supplies and lots of fun items.
Pizza Hut is available once a month as part of the school's hot lunch program.
Twice a year the Gompers Elementary Parent Teacher Organization sponsors fun nights with games, food, gym activities, crafts, and more. Bring the whole family for a night of fun!
Several times a year we have all-school programs in the all-purpose room, such as authors and musicians, East High School Choirs, Multico, and other cultural events. For the 2006-07 school year, Gompers has formed a partnership with Ballet folklorico for an artists-in-residence experience.
We put on winter and spring concerts each year. Different grades or classrooms write and perform plays for classmates and parents.
Every May, the 5th grade students who were patrols for
the year take a trip to a Milwaukee Brewer's
baseball game. It's a great reward for a job well done.
Second, third, fourth and fifth graders jump in teams of six to earn money for the American Heart Association. It's a good cause and we earn prizes for our hard work.
Classes get to go on many different field trips. Some are to really cool places like the Cherokee Marsh, McKenzie Center, Jackson School Forest, World Dairy Expo, Planetarium, UW Engineering Expo and UW Band Concerts.
We love having our parents come and help out in our classrooms or other places in the school. It's great to see them all around our building.
Remember, you're "At Home At Gompers Elementary School!"
