You're...At Home At
|
Why should adults get all the information?!
You're moving too and you are the one who will be in school all day.
So, just for you, here are some fun reasons why you will think our school
is the greatest!
Be a part of student council and promote school spirit throughout the year - we have hat days, beach days, and clean up the school days. We decide what to spend our recycling money on, run our food drive and help the principal with lots of other important stuff.
Meet Tiggles, our mascot and resident hedgehog!
We just love to read, don't you? You'll have lots of books to choose from at our new book fair early in the year and our used book fair in the spring.
Will your team win the gold, silver or bronze medals in our spring Olympics day? Join us and find out!
Have you ever wanted to visit a different country? With all the new friends you'll make at Shorewood you could have invitations to visit friends from over fifty different counties!
Start the year out with a picnic. Get to know your classmates before school begins!
End the year with a hot dog cookout celebration on the field! (Our principal does all the grilling and it tastes s-o-o-o good!)
WOW, you should see all the costumes. Participate in the customs and taste awesome foods from around the world.
Visit the medical wing and get a cast, tour the
ambulance, dissect a cow heart and scrub up for surgery, or visit the
natural science wing and hold a hissing cockroach, see the red worms in
action making compost and match the animal tracks with the correct animal.
Maybe you'd like to take in a chemistry magic show. Have you ever seen a
potter throw a pot? Have you ever painted to music? Made a sculpture out
of junk? There is something for everyone young and old at the Shorewood Art
and Science Expos!
We don't just sing in our music classes - we play recorders (you know - those flute-like things), too.
We sing, we harmonize, we tour! It's awesome.
The fourth and fifth graders get to learn how to play string instruments - violins, cellos and stuff like that. How do we get to sound so great?!!
First graders love to experiment with bubbles big enough to stand in.
When we study whales, we really get into it - we have a life size whale that helps us learn about whales and teach other kids about them too!
Whether it's with a class across town or a class in another country, we use E-mail to make and keep new friends.
Do you have an act to share? Come display your talents at our annual variety show.
A last week of school event, win the raffle and be "Principal for the Day!"
We learn lots of stuff and can show off our knowledge in the Geography Bee, the Spelling Bee, the district wide Math Meet and through Battle of the Books. We even get to answer weekly trivia questions about our world or our state. It's amazing how fun it is to learn at Shorewood Hills!
Remember, you're "At Home At Shorewood Hills Elementary School!"
