You're...At Home At
|
Why should adults get all the information?!
You're moving too and you are the one who will be in school all day.
So, just for you, here are some fun reasons why you will think our school
is the greatest!
Spartans have lots of choices for after-school activities. There are over 50 clubs and 25 sports where you can spend your time and energy. African-American, Asian and Latino Councils, Fencing Club, Computer Competition Club, Odyssey of the Mind, Robotics, Ultimate Frisbee, Spartan Youth Service, plus debate, drama, forensics, yearbook, newspaper and lots of other clubs fill the time after school. Don't sit on the sidelines! Get involved!
The Spartan Eatery serves everything from pizza and subs to salads and burgers,
as well as a daily Meal Deal. Missed your breakfast at home? Not a problem;
the Spartan Eatery has food in the A.M. as well. Want to bring your lunch?
Many Spartans do; you'll feel right at home.
Memorial teachers really want you to do well in their courses. They present their materials in many different learning styles; they are around to answer your questions and give you help before and after school. Get to know your teachers; let them get to know you. That way we'll all work together to give you an outstanding high-school education.
This great program divides 9th-graders into CORE groups of 80 students for three periods each day. That way high school doesn't seem so big, and it's easier to get to know the other freshmen and your teachers.
Memorial's teachers use the Internet to bring the world into the classroom.
Teachers and students create Web pages for class projects and for individual
courses, "surfing the Net" for information that's as up-to-date as today.
In CORE, freshmen use the Net for projects that bring together English,
science, and social studies. Students can use the Dance Studio, two weight
rooms, the Field House, the Planetarium, and several computer labs. Students,
staff, and area artists display their work in the Currie Art Gallery.
Remember, you're "At Home At James Madison Memorial High School!"
