On recent Wisconsin Student Assessment System tests, Sennett's eighth grader student scores aligned with statewide and district proficiency levels. Students at all ability levels demonstrate marked improvement in academic and social/emotional growth during their years at Sennett.
In addition to core subjects required at each grade level (math, science, language arts, and social studies), students are required to take specific courses in writing and reading. Honors level courses or groupings are offered in each area. Advanced math placement in Algebra is offered in-house with Honors Geometry offered via a partnership with La Follette High School.
The Encore Program includes physical education, art, family and consumer education, Health, foreign language experience, Spanish, and music (general, chorus, band, and orchestra). This programming expands student horizons and develops lifelong skills and interests. Staff integrate special programs with academic subjects to increase learning in science, social studies, math, and language arts. Sennett offers a full range of special education services including a hearing impaired program. Special education staff coordinate support services for students. Social workers, counselors, and psychologists work with students, families, and staff to address social, emotional, and academic needs of students.
The goal of Talented and Gifted (TAG) programming is to make certain K-12 students consistently have learning opportunities that are challenging, systematic and continuous based on learning profile, readiness and student interest.
Student learning experiences include a broad range of opportunities that pushes a student to their next level of challenge and allows them to develop their talents. TAG programming may occur in the classroom, or in other settings. TAG programming is determined by ongoing evaluation and assessment of individual student needs. Each school has TAG resource support for ongoing consultation.

Students and parents report that our climate is caring, nuturing and engaging. Students respect the high expectations that are set forth both academically and socially. A special bully-free, harassment-free campaign includes a continuous focus on the elimination of emotional and physical harassment, on-going instruction in conflict resolution, a formal peer mediation program, and daily emphasis on strategies which ensure a positive learning environment. Sennett's discipline plan includes clearly defined expectations and consequences consistent with district policies and procedures. Students who display positive character and strong work/study habits are honored each quarter at schoolwide assemblies.
An active student Leadership Council and Students Against Destructive Descions (SADD) club coordinate student activities and school improvement plans including: lock-ins, dances, skating parties, community service and Brewers baseball games.

Parent support is highly valued and sought in a variety of areas - classrooms and field trips, SADD activities, student incentives, club sponsors/leaders, Variety Show performances, special events and school improvement committees. Parent Teacher Student Organization, our Latino Parent Committee, and SADD parent groups meet monthly. Go To School Nights and various cultural activities celebrating our diversity are among the available parent opportunities.
Most students engage in community service through SADD, academic house, Community Classroom programs, and/or Encore activities. Career Guidance units involve career job shadowing, mentorships and community outreach. The community and University provide resources for speakers, field trips, projects, curriculum and staff development.
Sennett is truly a "home away from home!" Every student CAN be successful when we work as a team. Together we can ensure each student is challenged, supported, and provided with critical life skills for the future. A family-school partnership is key to student success.
