Just For Students... Sennett Middle School

You're...At Home At
Sennett Middle School!

At Home In Madison

Why should adults get all the information?!
You're moving too and you are the one who will be in school all day.
So, just for you, here are some fun reasons why you will think our school is the greatest!

David Letterman made "Top Ten" lists famous. So, this is just for you kids.

10. After School Sports and Clubs!

Opportunities are endless - basketball, football, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, bowling, skiing, horseback riding, forensics, drama, photography, art club, chess, computers, newspaper, yearbook, poms, drill team . . . just for starters. You give us the idea, we'll start a club. Also, check out the YMCA, Lancer League Basketball, Sharks Football/Track, and Little League for more to do.

9. Fun Food In The Cafeteria!

Some of the main munchies are pizza, subs, burritos, French fries, cookie dough (with M&M's in it!), and lots of different kinds of juice and ice cream. Of course, there are lots of healthy options like salads, fruits, veggies and bagels too. During the year there are special menus from time to time - taco bars, pasta bars, cook-outs, build your own subs, etc.

8. Leadership Council!

Get involved! If you're an organizer with big ideas, this is right up your alley. It's a perfect way to meet people, make friends across "houses" (teams), and have a blast planning and participating in activities like special theme days, fundraisers, all-school events, meetings with students from other schools, conducting school tours, planning parties and dances, as well as helping us make positive changes to improve our school.

7. Three Days at Camp Upham Woods!

While we take lots of fun trips, this one will be the highlight of your Sennett career. You'll spend three adventure filled days at a cool camp on the Wisconsin River with all the other kids and teachers in your house. Great classes like Outward Bound, pond study, island hikes, survival skills, and crazy campfires are just a few of the memories you'll treasure forever.

6. Just Say No Club - the Largest One in North America!

You name it, JSN sponsors it - roller skating, dances, all school assemblies, lock-ins, Brewers games, pancake breakfasts, Earth Day clean-ups, and clubs galore . . . just for starters. The club involves students in planning and organizing special events as alternatives to alcohol and other drugs. Most of our students join JSN.

5. The Annual Variety Show!

Two hundred students, tons of staff, and parent volunteers get their "act together" for our evening and day performance. Musical acts, crazy skits, poms, and dance groups are part of this talent extravaganza.

4. The Social Scene!

Let's face it . . . a big part of school is time to see your friends. Students are kept pretty busy with school work, but we do have breaks between classes, thirty minutes for lunch, and from 2:45-3:30 there are tons of activities and opportunities to hang out with your friends. Sennett is a warm, friendly place.

3. Awesome Staff!

The staff at Sennett are very unique. They love kids and go way beyond the call of duty to make classes and extra curricular activities exciting. You'll really get to know our teachers since you spend three years in your house. "We are f-a-m-i-l-y." Lots of projects and hands-on activities make learning fun. Our teachers are big on computers too.

2. Rewards For Excellence!

Positive behavior and good grades are rewarded! Teachers make a big deal about improvement, making good decisions, supporting others, and getting good grades. Pats on the back, honor roll parties, privilege trips, and awards assemblies help us celebrate success. The end-of-year all-school awards assembly, where we honor our dear eighth graders, is a great event; everyone is proud of our winners!

1. You Can Be A Winner and Have A Great Three Years With Us At Sennett!

We have high expectations for you - academically and socially. We need you to help make Sennett a great place to learn and have fun. We welcome ALL students, respect differences, and focus on team skills as well as individual achievement and growth. We want you and everyone at Sennett to feel respected and "at home!"

Remember, you're "At Home At Sennett Middle School!"
