The Budget Seminar was called to order by Carol Carstensen at 7 p.m.

1.         Approval of Minutes

4.         Annual Report on Board of Education Priorities

Superintendent Art Rainwater presented the information on the district's progress in meeting the Board's three priorities.  Art explained how and why the district's information differed from that on the DPI's web site.  There was discussion about how the Board chose the three priorities, about the changing demographics of the district and what the data indicates about the next steps.  There was considerable discussion about the federal No Child Left Behind law and how that will change the testing data the district currently uses.

 

5.         Student Fees Charged by the District

            Ms. Carstensen distributed the information about the fees that the district charges as well as information about the federal poverty guidelines and the state's guidelines on Driver's Education.  There was considerable discussion about fees – whether they should be charged at all and whether the current level is appropriate. 

6.         Student Services Department as it relates to the Budget

Next agenda.

            No discussion.

            The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.  by the unanimous consent of those present.
