Long Range Planning Committee meeting was called to order by Chair Carol Carstensen at 6:35 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT: Carol Carstensen, Lawrie Kobza, Arlene Silveira
MEMBERS ABSENT: None
OTHER BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Johnny Winston, Jr.
STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES PRESENT: None
STAFF PRESENT: Sue Abplanalp, Mary Gulbrandsen, Kurt Kiefer
1. LongRangeFacility Use Planning Process
(Written materials provided in advance and at the meeting: Dealing with Overcrowding at Chavez: Considerations for 2007-2008. Written materials provided at the meeting: Feedback Sheet - Dealing with Overcrowding at Chavez Elementary School 2007-2008.
Mary Gulbrandsen made a PowerPoint presentation (copy attached to the original of these minutes) and provided information about long range facility use planning, overcrowding at Chavez Elementary School, and ways to address the overcrowding.
2. Ideas to Address Student Overcrowding at ChavezElementary School
Several members of the audience asked questions and shared ideas about dealing with overcrowding at Chavez for next year. Comment sheets were distributed and collected from the audience.
3. Next Steps in the Process to Alleviate Student Overcrowding at ChavezElementary School
New ideas will be created from the comments received. Another meeting will be scheduled for Chavez parents and staff to discuss solutions.

The meeting was adjourned by unanimous consent at approximately 8:30 p.m.
