General Board Meeting-what we talked about: Expulsion Policy, etc.

Revisions-
Expungement Policy
Current policy
Expungement-The ability to clean an Expulsion/Suspension with it still on the record but there are no consequences.
Requirements
You need 2.0 GPA-no suspension/expulsion beforehand and no more than 10 unexcused absences in the years after expulsion and no serious offenses i.e. rape, hitting a staff member, a bomb threat.
Changes
Suspension before an expulsion should not be considered a barrier to expungement but not two expulsions. - Motion was passed unanimously
Legal council shall notify eligible students [and relevant school officials] of their qualifications for the expungement process 60 days before the end of their junior year.-Motion passes unanimously.
The assistant superintendent based on recommendations from the school principal shall designate a staff member to assist the eligible student through the expungement process. - Motion passed.
Suspension/Expulsion Policy
Suggestions-Alternative to Suspension
Abolish all out of school suspensions-instead community service
Isolated in-school suspension
Tabled until next meeting-1st in March
