4. 315 (discuss à distinction to be made)

a. Guns in plays are different

b. Any less severe à won't be taken seriously enough

c. Similar to imitation substance question (disturbance caused by possession of look-alike handgun is more serious and should be punished more harshly)

i. Motion: Keep at level 300 (as is). Possession of an inanimate look-alike handgun or firearm (distinguishable or indistinguishable from a real handgun or firearm). (i.e. Squirt gun or another type of toy gun.)

1. APPROVED (unanimous)

i. APPROVED (unanimous)

7. 314

a. Shouldn't be any higher

b. Maybe a level 2?

c. Something added that says "possession of imitation controlled substance with intent to deceive"

d. Distinction between passive possession and active imitation

e. Baking soda (harmless) should be treated differently than products that could actually harm someone

1. APPROVED (unanimous)

8. 202 and 215

a. Move gang to level three (more serious punishment)

b. Level of involvement taken into account

c. Gang relevance?

i. Shouldn't be gangs in schools

ii. Just being in a gang doesn't constitute different level of punishment

iii. Is gang treated as a whole? Or are individuals in the gang held accountable for their own actions?

iv. Add to 202 "taking into account group coercion"

1. "Should coercion occur in a group of three or more, each individual's level of involvement will be assessed"

2. Minimum punishment for involvement

d. Motion: 215 à 202A

i. APPROVED (unanimous)

9. 307

a. Staff member v. student punishment

i. Exactly the same à no reason to differentiate between two human beings (no matter the age difference)

ii. Difference in level of malicious intent (student attacking student is different than student attacking a staff member)

iii. Don't need to be combined, but need to be at same punishment level

iv. Adults and students deserve the same level of respect

v. What if a staff member initiates and a student retaliates?

vi. Teachers should be considered superiors (they aren't at the same level as students)

vii. Making the punishment for attacking students the same as attacking staff members would upset the hierarchy that exists within schools

viii. Same level? (To underscore the point that student-student attacks are not acceptable)

ix. Even if the two instances are at different "punishment levels," they can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may both lead to expulsion (if that's deemed necessary)

1. Motion: Leave 307 and 403 at different levels (as is)

a. APPROVED (unanimous)
