Reduction in Service (if referendum does NOT pass)Impact on Memorial HS Students
Classes with less than 18 students enrolled will be eliminated. For example, AP Chem. Some advanced level courses will have to be folded in together: for example, German 4 and 5.
  1. Diminishes choices for students.
  2. Makes the school less comprehensive.
  3. Eliminates classes and information that are not available anywhere else in the curriculum.
Study halls will be fewer and larger and will not follow our Neighborhood plan.
  1. Our study center/tutoring concept will suffer.
Reduction of athletic director to .5
  1. Coordination of multiple athletic programs will be difficult.
Class sizes in the 28-30 range in all areas. Classes that use computers or lab stations will not have enough to go around.
  1. Less individual attention.
  2. More difficulty in establishing meaningful relationships between teacher and student.
  3. Extremely crowded and uncomfortable classroom settings.
Elimination of the audiovisual education aide, the attendance clerk, and the copy room aide.
  1. Expensive audiovisual equipment will be less closely monitored and repaired.
  2. Accurate and timely attendance will be maintained but at a time cost to Neighborhood secretaries.
  3. Copy machine monitoring and timely maintenance will be eliminated.
