Caving Reservation Request Form The stress/challenge program spends much of the winter underground in Popp's cave near Richland Center, Wisconsin. It is a natural cave in which participants have an opportunity to explore as spelunkers. Caving is physically and mentally challenging for many participants. All rely on the support of the group, and the community building that results is often significant. Popp's Cave is referred to as an "active" cave, meaning that water (the agent that formed the cave) is still constantly dripping. It's believed that the chambers and passages of the cave formed in the limestone below the water table. It formed by a combination of dissolving the rock, and by mechanical action (erosion). In some places the cave is 50 feet below the entrance, 70 feet below the surface, and is 645 feet long. The cave includes a few large rooms connected by passages which, at times, are fairly small. The cave is 55 degrees year round. Coupled with a winter hike through the woods to reach the mouth of the cave, this is an unforgettable experience that is an exciting adventure for all. MMSD groups that are interested in making a reservation for a trip to
the cave should fill out the following on-line form: Caving Information & Permission Slip Spanish Caving Letter & Permission Slip (Español):
