Department Function

All middle and high school students are assigned to a guidance counselor. The school counselors:

  1. Organize and Implement a Development Guidance Program and Curriculum that facilitates student success in three areas:
    • Academic Development
    • Career Development
    • Personal/Social Development
  2. Provide Individual Planning and Guidance for individuals and groups of students to include:
    • Assessment
    • Advising
    • Career Exploration
    • Decision Making
    • Life Planning
  3. Asses the need for and provide Responsive Services that include:
    • Consultation
    • Personal Counseling
    • Small Groups
    • Conflict Resolution
    • Crisis Counseling
    • Referral
  4. Develop and implement Systems Support initiatives that incorporate:
    • Guidance Program Management, Operation and Evaluation
    • Community Partnerships
    • Professional Development
    • Transition Programs for Students
