The Madison Board of Education has approved the appointments of principals at three Madison middle schools beginning in the 2001-02 school year. They are Karen Seno at Cherokee, Gail Anderson at Spring Harbor, and Mary Kelley at Akira Toki School.
Karen Seno has been the interim principal at Cherokee since August. She has been with Madison Schools since 1992, serving as a middle school language arts teacher and as the learning coordinator at Wright Middle School for three years prior to going to Cherokee.
Gail Anderson has been the learning coordinator at Spring Harbor since it re-opened in 1996. She has been in Madison schools since 1973 - teaching for 18 years and serving as the learning coordinator at Toki for five years prior to going to Spring Harbor. Anderson replaces Gary Sisler, who is retiring after a five year stint as Spring Harbor principal and a total of 32 years in the District.
Mary Kelley will come to Toki after four years as the principal at Prairie View Middle School in Sun Prairie. She has also been a middle school assistant principal in Beloit. Kelley holds a master's degree in educational administration from Mankato State University in Minnesota. She will replace Ben Radloff who will become an assistant principal at Memorial High School.
