Linda Allen, the principal at Van Hise Elementary School for the last six years, is transferring to the principalship of Thoreau Elementary School effective for the new school year.
Allen will be succeeding Margaret Planner, who has taken an administrative position with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Allen has been with the Madison Metropolitan School District for 18 years. Prior to her duties at Van Hise, Allen was principal at Lincoln Elementary School for one year. She was a teacher at Shorewood Elementary and at Lincoln from 1983 - 1994.
