Madison Rated One of the Best School Districts

Expansion Management Gives Madison Gold Medal Rating

The Madison Metropolitan School District received an EQ score of 144 out of a possible 150, earning a "Gold Medal" rating from Expansion Management magazine in their annual evaluation of secondary school districts.

The EQ, or Education Quotient, focuses primarily on results (graduation rates and college board results) and on a community's financial commitment to public education, though it's weighted more toward results.

As the article accompanying the ratings states, "the better the college board scores and the higher the graduation rate, the higher a school district will rank because, in our rankings, it's the results that count, not how much they spent getting there."

This is the magazine's 10th annual evaluation, and this year 2,234 districts were rated. Madison annually rates very highly.
