Lisa Kvistad and Quynh Nguyen have been named to become the elementary school principals at Elvehjem and Van Hise schools respectively, pending the approval of the Board of Education at their August 20 meeting.
Kvistad has worked most recently as the Director of Instruction for the Wisconsin Heights School District, with an emphasis on reading/literacy at the elementary level. Prior to her three years of educational administration at Wisconsin Heights, Lisa was an elementary teacher for 12 years in Wisconsin Heights and Janesville.
Kvistad holds a master's degree in educational administration from UW-Madison, along with a bachelor's degree in elementary education from UW-Oshkosh. At Elvehjem, she replaces Kim Ott, who moved out of town.
Nguyen succeeds Linda Allen, who transferred to the same position at Thoreau Elementary school. Quynh comes out of the Madison School District's principal intern program during which she interned at Franklin Elementary and Hamilton Middle schools. Prior to that, she was a guidance counselor at Sherman and Spring Harbor Middle schools and in the Oregon School District.
Nguyen has her master's and bachelor's degrees and a certification in educational administration all from UW-Madison.
Both appointments are effective in August.
