Principals Named at Lincoln and Lowell

Abplanalp Promoted to Elementary Lead Principal

Beth Lehman is the new principal at Lincoln Elementary School, while Bev Cann will be the principal at Lowell Elementary. Cann replaces Sue Abplanalp, who has been promoted to the new position of Elementary Lead Principal. All three appointments are pending the approval of the Board of Education at their September 10 meeting.

Lehman was an elementary principal most recently in Wheeling, IL. She also has been a middle school assistant principal and has taught intermediate elementary grades in Illinois. Lehman has a master's degree in educational administration from Northern Illinois University. Lehman replaces Carolyn Stanford Taylor who has taken a position in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Cann has a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from UW-Madison and principal certification from National-Louis University in Beloit. Cann has over 20 years of teaching and leadership experience in the Middleton-Cross Plains School District, where she taught grades 3-5 and chaired the K-12 Science Committee.

Cann succeeds Abplanalp, who has been Lowell's principal for the past four years. As elementary lead principal, Abplanalp will be working under the supervision of Jane Belmore, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools, to provide support and assistance to elementary principals in areas such as data analysis and interpretation, and school improvement actions. Abplanalp has 10 years of elementary school principal experience, and holds a Ph.D. in educational administration from UW-Madison.
