Madison ACT Scores Are Ahead of State, Nation

For the 15th consecutive year, Madison students taking the ACT have outperformed their state and national peers, with composite scores 8 percent higher than Wisconsin students and 14 percent higher than students tested nationally.

Madison students' composite score was 24.1, Wisconsin 22.2 and the nation 21.0 - out of a possible 36 points. The Madison composite score is annually one of the best among the approximately 380 Wisconsin school districts.

Sixty-nine point nine percent (1091) of last year's graduates took the test.

Three of the nine Wisconsin students who recorded the highest possible score - 36 - are from Madison. Mike He, Po-Ru Loh, and Liana Prescott all attend Memorial High School.

The ACT exam is administered nationally by the American College Testing Program and covers English, reading, math and science reasoning.
