Aristos Grant Awards and Scholars Named

Eight more grants have been awarded and seven more staff members have been selected as scholars for the second year of the Aristos Scholars Program. Formerly the Rennebohm Scholars Program, this two-part initiative is now called Aristos, which is a Greek word meaning excellent, optimum, the best.

Out of 40 grant applications, eight grants totaling $49,971 were selected. The funding will support innovative projects designed by MMSD staff members. The grants are awarded to the following projects, the persons, their school and the funding:

The seven MMSD staff members will join the current group of ten in the Aristos Scholars Program. Scholars must demonstrate a record of innovation and creative thinking, and exhibit a district perspective and vision. During their three-year term, they will explore District issues. In the past year, the Scholars identified potential opportunities that could help to maintain high quality education while the school district experiences a revenue decline. The new Scholars are:
