FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 27, 2001
Due to the generosity of John "Jack" Lussier, an athletic facility will be built behind La Follette High School for use by the two eastside high schools. Although Lussier's $750,000 contribution enables the district to proceed with the project, the total cost is estimated at about $1 million.
Individuals interested in donating to the project should direct their inquiries to John Olson, former Madison Metropolitan School District assistant superintendent, at 266-6016.
Donations can be forwarded directly to:
Roger Price, Assistant Superintendent for Business
545 West Dayton Street
Madison, WI 53703-1995
The stadium project will seat approximately 4,000 persons and include a scoreboard, a concessions building, restrooms, a press box and lights. A community-based steering committee is being formed to assist in the planning with a desired completion date for the entire project by the fall of 2002.
