La Follette Wins Conference Sportsmanship Award

Each year the member schools of the Big 8 Conference select a school to receive the Sportsmanship Award. La Follette High School is the recipient of this award for the 2000-2001 school year.

This is the third time in the last four years that La Follette has received the conference sportsmanship award, which is voted on by athletic directors and coaches of the nine member schools.

"We are again pleased to receive this award," said athletic director Jim Kinder. "It is especially meaningful because we emphasize school spirit and sportsmanship here, and because it's awarded by our peers in the Big 8 Conference. We are proud of our students athletes, faculty, coaches, advisors, parents and the general student community for this accomplishment."

In addition, La Follette is runner-up in the All Sports award, which goes to the school with the highest composite standing in all sports. Middleton is the winner for the 2000-2001 year.
