MMSD Holds Three Community Forums about the Budget

Budget Survey also Available to the Public

With a state budget shortfall driving cuts to the school budget for next year, the Madison Metropolitan School District is seeking input from the community via three forums and a survey. This is being done to obtain feedback from the community on how to handle budget priorities for the 2003-04 school year.

The community forums will present opportunities for two-way communications between citizens and the Madison Board of Education. They will be held on:

Those in attendance will be able to speak for up to 3 minutes to members of the Board of Education and/or complete the short budget survey. Community members will also be able to receive some basic information about Madison's budget situation and previous service reductions via a short presentation and handout.

At the March 13 meeting, preliminary budget discussion items will be presented to all those in attendance at 6 p.m., and then members of the public will be able to speak to the Board starting at 7 p.m.

The surveys will also be available to be completed via the District's web site <http://www.mmsd.org>. They will also be available in the main office of each school. All surveys should be submitted by March 31, 2003.
