John H. "Jack" Lussier has done it again. Lussier's lead gift of $350,000 means that team locker rooms will be constructed and added to the Lussier Stadium complex by August of next year. The 37-hundred square foot addition to the west side of the La Follette High School Field House means that teams competing there will be able to use separate dressing rooms immediately adjacent to the stadium.
Lussier's lead gift of $750,000 led to the construction of the new Lussier Stadium, which opened for high school football games this fall. Track and field and soccer will also be played at the 5,000 seat facility.
The cost for the new facility, which will include two team locker rooms and an office, is estimated at $500,000, with the balance to come from fund raising and booster efforts over the next ten years. No school district operating or capital funds will be used for this project.
"This generous donation by Jack Lussier makes it a complete facility," said Superintendent Art Rainwater. "Through his gift, he's helping more than those competing at the Stadium, because the addition will be available for activities in the Field House as well."
"We are very grateful to Mr. Lussier for what he is doing for students, coaches and spectators," Rainwater added.
Construction will begin in the spring.
