Nine Madison high school senior athletes will receive the "Milt McPike Achievement Award" on Wednesday, April 14 at 6pm in the Eatery at Madison Area Technical College - Truax campus, 3550 Anderson St. The $2,500 award is named for former Madison East Principal Milt McPike, who retired at the end of the 2001-02 school year, after 23 years as East's principal.
The award-winning athletes must receive letters of recommendation from their school's athletic director, a guidance counselor and a classroom teacher, based on a strong academic record, athletic performance, involvement in other school activities and a positive attitude. Recipients of the $2,500 must be accepted at a 4-year college or university.
The 2004 Madison Schools winners are:
Madison East HS - Eric Johnson, Jordan Michael Murray, Jenny Wuest;
Madison La Follette - Caitlin Digney, Andrew Quirk, Curtrel Robinson;
Madison Memorial - Eric Brekke, Kayla Moses, Karl Richters.
