New Principals at Black Hawk and Muir Schools

Current MMSD principals Mary Kelley and Linda Kailin will transfer to principalships at other Madison schools effective this summer. Kelley has been named the new principal at Black Hawk Middle School, 1402 Wyoming Way, and Kailin is transferring to become the principal at Muir Elementary School, 6602 Inner Drive.

Kelley has been the principal at Toki Middle School, 5606 Russett Road, for the past four years. Previous to that, she worked as a middle school principal in Sun Prairie for four years, and as an assistant principal in Beloit. Kelley will replace Alan Harris, who recently was named principal at East High School.

Kailin has been with Madison schools for 35 years, including the last nine years as principal at Sandburg Elementary, 4114 Donald Drive. Prior to leading Sandburg, Linda was employed in a variety of teaching positions at Falk, Orchard Ridge and Lincoln Elementary Schools. She will replace John Burmaster, who recently was named principal at Jefferson Middle School.

The search processes for new principals at Toki and Sandburg begin immediately. Both departing principals will be working to ensure smooth transitions for their successors.
