The public schools in Madison are ranked as the 3rd best in the nation out of 362 metropolitan areas, according to the latest edition of Expansion Management Magazine.
"Quality Public Schools" is one of nine broad categories the magazine measures for its Quality of Life Quotient ratings, which list "metro areas where people can enjoy a career and raise a family at the same time." Each category consists of from two to ten factors drawn from government and proprietary sources.
The magazine article states "Being able to send one's children to good (and safe) schools is one of the main ingredients to quality of life." Madison ranks in the highest or "5-Star" category reserved for the top 20% of urban areas. The #3 ranking for Quality Public Schools is the highest ranking among the nine categories for Madison.
