Bailey and Evans Named to Key Positions

Lynn Bailey, currently an assistant principal at West High School, has been named principal of Secondary Alternative Programs, and Mark Evans has been named director of Management Information Systems, both pending the approval of the Board of Education on May 22.

Prior to becoming assistant principal at West eight years ago, Bailey was an administrator in the Racine School District. Previously he had been a German and music teacher at Holy Name Seminary in Madison. Bailey has a master's degree in educational administration from UW-Madison.

Bailey will be responsible for the Accelerated Learning Academy, the two Work and Learning Centers, the School Age Parent program, the School Within a School program, and other alternative programs. Bailey is replacing Cal Stone who is retiring after 30 years in Madison schools.

Evans is currently a technical services supervisor for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction where he has been since 1996. For six years prior, he was a computer consultant for the UW-Madison Division of Facilities Planning and Management. Evans has bachelor's and master's degrees in entomology, and a master's degree in biology.

Evans replaces the retiring Mike Burie as head of the department that supports computer technology. Burie has been in the District for 33 years.
