For the first time in over two decades, all of the employees of the Madison Metropolitan School District and Madison Teachers, Inc. are invited to the Coliseum on Friday, August 20 at 8:30 a.m. to celebrate the start of a new school year.
The fun-filled event will feature entertainment, door prize drawings and brief remarks beginning at 9:05 a.m. by Superintendent Art Rainwater, MTI Executive Director John Matthews and School Board President Carol Carstensen. Mayor Sue Bauman plans to circulate among the crowd early in the morning.
Over 30 donated door prizes will be awarded including: one night at the Concourse Hotel & Governor's Club, lunch with Supt. Rainwater, a limo ride to and from work courtesy of Gallant Knight Limousine, and dinner for two with John and Barbara Matthews. Expenses for the rally have been defrayed through generous contributions from Group Health Cooperative, Met Life, Home Savings Bank, Westphal Electric, Sergenian's Floor Coverings, Wisconsin Public Service, and other private donations are being sought.
