FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DECEMBER 6, 1999
Glenn Borland has been appointed Interim Assistant Superintendent of the Madison Metropolitan School District. Borland temporarily replaces Alex Boyd, who had been the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Schools.
Boyd resigned in order to become the Superintendent of the Harvey-Dixmoor School District in Harvey, Illinois. It's a K-8 school district in suburban Chicago.
Borland's appointment is for the duration of the 1999-2000 school year. A permanent assistant superintendent is expected to be named prior to the start of the 2000-01 school year.
Prior to Borland's retirement from the Madison school district as Assistant Superintendent in 1994, he had worked for the district for 33 years. Borland has been a teacher, assistant principal, principal, district director, and interim superintendent in Madison.
"Alex Boyd was a very valuable member of our staff, and he made a significant contribution in moving the district forward," said Superintendent Art Rainwater. "The Madison School District is better because he was here. We wish him well."
The Board of Education will confirm Borland's appointment at its regular monthly meeting tonight.
