Falk Fourth Graders Plan "A Trip Through Japan"

Teacher Terry Allbaugh Spent Three Weeks in Japan on Fulbright Scholarship

Fourth graders at Falk Elementary, 6323 Woodington Way, will take the audience on "A Trip Through Japan" using song, dance, art, and the written word on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 from 1:15 – 2:30 p.m. in the school's gym.

In October of 1999 Falk fourth grade teacher Terry Allbaugh spent three weeks in Japan on a Fulbright Memorial Fund scholarship, visiting all levels of the Japanese school system. She was selected, in part, due to her commitment to follow-up activities related to Japan when she returned to her classroom in Madison.

Students have learned Japanese songs and dances and have also extensively researched Japan's government, religions, foods, holidays, and other aspects of Japanese life and culture. The "A Trip Through Japan" performances are the culmination of the students' study and open to the public.
