The Summer Food Service Program will again be available in Madison to provide meals to needy children this summer, when free and reduced-price meals are not available.
The Madison School District is the local sponsor of the program which will provide free meals at 30 sites to low-income children 18 years of age and under and to persons over 18 years who are determined to be mentally or physically disabled.
The free food program runs weekdays from June 12 through August 4. Meals served depends on the site, though they include breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks.
Children can register on site beginning on June 12. The list of sites, which includes schools, centers and parks, is listed on the following page. Questions can be answered by contacting Madison Schools Food Services, 221-6296.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
