Five Madison teachers are being honored by two local television stations for their outstanding work in the classroom.
WMTV (NBC 15) is awarding five Crystal Apple awards the week of May 8, and three of them are going to Madison teachers:
These three teachers will be featured respectively on May 9, 11 and 12 on the NBC 15 news at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition, an honorable mention merit award is being given to another Madison teacher, Christine Shelton, kindergarten teacher at Franklin Elementary.
NBC 15 gives the awards to educators who made a significant difference in the lives of young people. Over 125 educators were nominated for the awards which are timed to coincide with National Teacher Day on Tuesday, May 9.
WISC-TV (News 3) honored Cecilia Schiek, a special education assistant at Muir Elementary, with their Topnotch Teacher award in December. Schiek was recognized for her work with a 7-year old boy who was diagnosed with a unique disorder.
News 3's Topnotch Teacher award goes to an educator who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. The Topnotch Teachers are featured on News 3 on the first Monday and Tuesday of the month.
Congratulations to these five outstanding Madison teachers.
