FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 14, 2000
Jenna R. Kanter, a senior this fall at Madison East High School, was one of only two college-bound students in Wisconsin and 29 in the U.S. to achieve a 36, the highest possible score on the April 2000 ACT Assessment.
About 19,000 Wisconsin students, and 443,000 from across the nation, completed the ACT college entrance exam in April, which is the most popular month for taking the test.
Biology, physics and English are some of Jenna's favorite courses at East, where she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. Jenna says she will go to college and is leaning toward studying one of the biological sciences.
The ACT comprises tests in English, mathematics, reading and science reasoning, and is scored on a scale of 1-36. For comparison, the average score for the 1999 national high school graduating class was 21.
