Hamilton Sixth Grade Problem Solvers Win State Competition

A team of sixth grade students from Velma Hamilton Middle School has taken first place in the Future Problem Solvers State Bowl over the weekend. The students' writing and talking about the Internet in 2040 was judged the best in the team junior division.

The students are Ashley Adams, Nathaniel Haack, Katie Remington and Corey Watts, and their teacher is Barbara Widder.

They qualify to represent Wisconsin at the international Future Problem Solvers conference in Athens, GA in June.

Future Problem Solving is a year long educational, creative problem-solving program in which students are challenged to solve problems related to different topics of global significance set 20 or more years into the future. During the current school year students have explored challenges related to fads, financial security, amateur sports and the Internet.
