Principal Fried to Chávez Parents and Staff

Dear Chávez Families and Staff,

A number of things have been happening this week regarding returning belongings from Chávez lockers and classrooms to children and staff.

Our custodial staff has been working to clean out the students' lockers in an organized fashion. Items are being bagged up individually and will be given to students at their host schools.
Musical instruments have been given to our strings teacher, Ann Gregg.
We are also beginning to bring student and staff materials out of the grade 1 and 2 classrooms and the Title I and ESL rooms that were have been cleared for this purpose.
Our LMC director, Teri Gregory will be able to work in the library adding materials she recently ordered to our collection.

In addition, we are in the process of checking the rooms in the host buildings for the wiring set up for computers and printers to determine if we can move Chávez computers into these locations. We hope to move a computer into each classroom if possible.

Building Update:
We are awaiting the results from the last air samples taken. The cleaning of the air ducts has been completed and the follow up air samples will be taken tomorrow. These results will be returned in approximately two weeks. We continue the work to determine causation but have not completed this process. Again, we will not begin reconstruction until we are certain that causes have been determined and addressed.

We continue to work with Chávez teachers and the host buildings to ensure that your child has the best possible instructional environment given our current situation. While many issues have been addressed, we continue to work with teachers and parents about concerns as they are identified.
