Dear Chávez Families and Staff:

Summer, and especially this one, is a wonderful time to slow down, catch our breath and tend to things that we aren't able to do during the school year. With the reopening of school a little bit more than a month away, I am starting to get excited in the same way I was a year ago. There is still much to be done but it feels like all the pieces are falling into place. As Bachmann Construction completes work on a room, our custodial staff is right behind them cleaning and waxing each room. It won't be very long before our school sparkles once again.

Here's the latest update on the reconstruction from Rick Hopke, the district's Coordinator of Facilities Engineering:

Bachmann Construction Company, Inc. (BCCI) has completed all the reconstruction on the first floor and the majority of work on the second floor.
Crews are completing the installation of data systems, paint touch-up and completing wall base installation.
Air balancing work is being scheduled for all areas to check for delivery of design air flows to all occupied spaces.
Filters on the second floor have been taken down as work is nearing completion.
Custodial crews continue to clean rooms on the first floor.
Work in the Office, LMC and storage areas has been completed.
Replacement of the existing kiln exhaust hood in the Art Room area has been completed.
A floor coating system has been selected to seal the mechanical room floors. Work will be scheduled as soon as materials are received.
Brick to be used for exterior repairs is scheduled to be received this Friday. Masonry crews are scheduled to start work following receipt.
The roof edge modifications are scheduled to begin the week of July 15th.
Installation of the Closed Circuit TV system (CCTV) is scheduled to begin the week of July 15th.
Work continues to be on schedule.
