Late this afternoon we found mold spots on drywall above suspended ceilings in two additional classrooms on the 2nd floor of Chávez Elementary School.
Because of this, Chávez School will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, November 28, 2001 to all students and all staff.
On Wednesday we will complete additional inspections above the ceilings. While we have previously inspected all rooms, the areas above the suspended ceilings had not been viewed prior to this afternoon. Our goal is to definitively determine the extent of the molds on all possible surfaces.
The scheduled parent meeting for Wednesday evening November 28 at 7:00 p.m. will still take place at the school.
Staff is being notified to not come to school on Wednesday. Parents are being notified via news outlets.
