Pam Emmerich will be the principal for the new elementary school on the West
side, while Sarah Galanter is now the interim principal at Stephens Elementary.
Emmerich, currently the assistant principal at Chavez Elementary, will continue to serve in that position while her work planning for the new school's September opening begins tomorrow.
Galanter -- interim for the remainder of the school year -- replaces Karen Sieber who is relocating to the Milwaukee area due to a change in her husband's work.
Since Emmerich came to the Madison School District in 1994, she's taught at Sennett Middle and Elvehjem Elementary, been a principal intern for one year, been the principal at Lindbergh Elementary for four years and been the assistant principal at Chavez for three years.
She has a degree in Elementary Education from UW-Eau Claire, and a Master's in education administration from UW-Madison.
Galanter had been a resource teacher at Glendale Elementary and has interned as a Summer School principal for the last two years. She holds Master's degrees in school administration and social service administration, and previously taught in East Harlem, NY and Chicago.
