A web page created by the mother of an individual with autism. She has included many resources on teaching methodologies, education and "special" education resources, IEP information, augmentative communication assistance (with many pages of PEC's pictures) and much more!
*The Autism Link Page
This web site is a compilation of links to autism-related sites all over the world. Every link contains a short description of the linked site. There are categories such as "Institutions", "Associations" and "Private Home pages", and also more "label-like" categories such as "Asperger".

This is the home page of the Autism Society of America, a national organization that provides information regarding supporting individuals with autism.
*Autism Network International
A self-help and advocacy organization for people with autism, run by individuals with autism.
*The Geneva Centre for Autism
An organization in Canada that provides training, resources and support for individuals with autism/PDD and their communities.
*Yale Child Study Center Developmental Disabilities Clinic and Research
*Autism Society of Wisconsin
This is the homepage of the Wisconsin Chapter of the Autism Society of America. This is an excellent cite and is well worth visiting.  Wisconsin specific information is provided regarding training opportunities and resources throughout the state.  The links pages are a great resource for additional autism information on the web. Regional and local chapters of the Autism Society of Wisconsin also have their own link.  The Madison Chapter's page provides a link to the resource guide, an excellent resource for families and school staff in the Madison area.  A link also is provided to the AUsome social group. This is a social group for teens and young adults with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, PDD, or Tourette's Syndrome.

*Future Horizon
Future Horizon is a publishing clearinghouse on autism-related information. This site is useful for accessing resource information (i.e., conferences, books, videos, audio tapes) related to autism. Resources are available for purchase and can be ordered via this site.
*Indiana Resource Center for Autism
The Indiana Resource Center for Autism (IRCA) staff conduct outreach training and consultations, engage in research, and develop and disseminate information focused on building the capacity of local communities, organizations, and families to support children and adults across the autism spectrum in typical work, school, home, and community settings.  This site provides information about the Center and includes a publications catalogue.
*Different Roads to Learning
Different Roads to Learning is an on-line catalog specializing in learning materials and playthings for children with developmental delays and challenges. This catalog puts together educational toys and materials that stimulate the skills leading to speech and language for challenged children ages 2 to 10.
*Parent Bookstore
Parentbooks offers a comprehensive selection of resources related to a variety different disabilities. Good resources for families and professionals. NOTE:  prices are based on Canadian currency.
* Playsteps
Children with special needs often require extra help to learn to play with toys. The new PLAYSTEPS books teach constructive play, step by step and are recommended for children 3-8 years old. The books have been field tested for two years with students with autism and multiple disabilities and provide a helpful tool for parents and teachers targeting independent play skills.

This site provides information about various research topics in the field of autism (i.e., secretin, gluten/casein free diets, vaccinations)
*Center for the Study of Autism
The Center for the Study of Autism (CSA) is located in the Salem/Portland, Oregon area. The Center provides information about autism to parents and professionals, and conducts research on the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions. Much of our research is in collaboration with the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California.
*Autism Research Unit
The Autism Research Institute is housed at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom.  Paul Shattock is Director of the unit. Current research in the field of autism is conducted and reported here.  As of September 1999, research and other information in the following areas is reported: gluten and casein free diets, autism and vaccinations, urinary analysis, and secretin to name a few.
*Autism Research Institute
The Autism Research Institute (ARI), a non-profit organization, was established in 1967. ARI is primarily devoted to conducting research, and to disseminating the results of research, on the causes of autism and on
methods of preventing, diagnosing and treating autism and other severe behavioral disorders of childhood. We provide information based on research to parents and professionals throughout the world.
Autism Research at the University of Rochester
The University of Rochester is one of a number of sites taking part in the NIH Collaborative Network for autism research. They created this website to provide information on their project for parents, clinicians, and other investigators and to make it easy for individuals to contact them with questions or ideas.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Connecting Young Kids (YAACK) is a website that covers issues related to AAC and young children. Its purpose is to provide information and guidance to families, teachers, speech/language pathologists and anyone else who is involved with a child with special communication needs. It is intended to be easy to understand and practical, and to cover a wide range of topics dealing with AAC and AAC-related issues of children at various ages and stages of communication ability, and with different strengths, disabilities and learning characteristics.
*Barkley Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Center
An excellent, comprehensive site on AAC.  Provides a device tutorial where you can obtain instructions on how to operate/program communication devices.  Online inservices, articles, and handouts on relevant topics also is provided. An excellent list of vocabulary words for preschool/elementary aged students and adults is provided.  Other links to additional AAC sites and vendors are outlined as well.
*  Alternative & Augmentative Communication
An interesting site.  Provide online workshops and other information related to AAC intervention strategies.

* Closing the Gap
An organization dedicated to providing information to assist those in using assistive technology.
*Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST)
CAST is an educational, not-for-profit organization that uses technology to expand opportunities for all people, including those with disabilities. Presents philosophical and psychological underpinnings of CAST's work and a description of CAST's view of universal design for learning. Teaching Strategies provides practical information about how to develop, find, and use universally designed curriculum materials. Teaching Tools describes existing software programs that contain universally designed features, including ideas on customizing the software and links to publisher Web sites. Resources includes links to other Web sites that contain information on accessibility and universal design for learning.
