INSERVICE TRAINING SERIES
The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) has been providing staff
development in the area of Autism for several years. The training opportunities
described are available throughout the 2006-2007 school year to district
employees, family, and community members. The goal of this training is to
provide understanding and knowledge of best practices in supporting students
with Autism.
Extended Courses are learning opportunities focused on knowledge and strategies critical to the implementation of best proactices in programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. They also provide ways to enrich or extend professional knowledge.
MMSD school staff can elect to receive Professional Advancement Credit (PAC). College (university) credit has also been made available for select courses.
Wisconsin Licensing Standards
Our courses meet many of the Wisconsin Licensing Standards for teachers,
administrators, and those in pupil services. For additional information,

Registration Procedures
Registration for these workshops must be made on-line. No telephone registrations
will be accepted. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis, however
priority will be given to district staff over non-MMSD participants if we
exceed room capacity. No registration fee is required for non-MMSD participants
at this time. Registration is required for part one and part two of
all two-part series workshops.

TEAM BUILDING TRAINING AND SUPPORT
Schools are encouraged to participate in team building training and support.
This support would extend throughout the school year and will include the
following components:
School teams selected to participate in these training opportunities will be involved in supporting students with autism, committed to collaborating as a team, interested in developing and implementing best practices approaches, and willing to share their experiences with others in the district.
