Photos from the controlled burn at the School Forest by the Department of Natural Resources, as part of the overall management plan to support the oak forest. Besides creating more favorable conditions for the oaks, the burn will encourage the growth of wildflowers and shrubs such as priaire willow, shooting star, asters, Joe Pye weed, wild geraniums, goldenrod, blueberries, orchids, and many others.
