Who can receive help from the GFDO?

The GFDO serves those MMSD school and central office administrators and staff, support groups such as PTOs, student groups, and community partners who have sound and innovative ideas for initiatives that advance the pursuit of our "success for all" goals for students, and who are willing to commit their time, talent, and other resources in pursuit of competitive funding.

Some services, such as project idea consultation, are available to all customer groups, virtually without limitation. Click here to review the menu of services the GFDO has to offer. Most GFDO services, however, are targeted to customers who meet certain minimum standards of readiness, to projects and programs that are appropriate for grant funding,* to grants of sufficient size to warrant GFDO involvement (minimum of $50,000), and/or to projects and programs that advance current District priorities. Click here for an explanation of the criteria and conditions necessary for accessing GFDO services.

Please note that with only one full-time staff member, the GFDO may not be able to assist with every worthy project or service request.

* Grant funding is most appropriate for those projects that can be classified as short-term capacity building, addressing one-time needs, or developing and implementing model demonstration projects. Grant funding is generally not appropriate for sustaining projects already underway or for covering costs typically considered to be part of the routine operations of the district.
