Source(s):

Board Policy 8031

As a condition of offering a position of employment to a new employee or a former employee who is returning to the District after a six-month interim, the Madison Metropolitan School District requires the successful completion of a TB test or an employment physical examination. This requirement is in accordance with the job specifications for the position and Wisconsin Statutes section 118.25.

1. Scheduling Health Examinations

    1. If needed, the Human Resources department arranges for the physical examination with one of the clinics which has a financial agreement with the District. (The employee is asked to schedule the examination at his/her convenience.) After the examination has been completed, the clinic shall provide the results of the examination to Human Resources. The results of the examination shall indicate whether or not the employee is fit to perform the job under consideration.
    2. TB tests will be administered in the Human Resources department for those employees who do not need a physical examination.

2. Condition of Employment

    1. Physical and/or tuberculin exams are required of all employees unless an employee files a signed statement with Human Resources that he/she depends exclusively upon prayer or spiritual means for healing in accordance with the teachings of a bona fide religious sect, denomination or organization.
    2. The employee's statement shall state that he/she is, to the best of his/her knowledge, in good health and claim exemption from health examination on those grounds. No employee may be discriminated against by reason of filing such a statement.
    3. The Board may still require health examinations if there is reasonable cause to believe that an employee is suffering from an illness detrimental to the health of students.
    4. The cost of the examination will be paid for from Board monies up to the amounts arranged for with appropriate medical facilities.
