Subject: CULTURAL COMPETENCY REQUIREMENT FOR ALL NEW EMPLOYEES HIRED INTO THE DISTRICT

Employment Postings

Beginning immediately, all District employment postings will contain a cultural competency requirement stated as follows:

"Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one’s own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one’s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas."

Employment Interviews

All interviews with prospective District employees shall contain at least one question designed to evaluate the cultural competence of the applicant.
