The Madison Metropolitan School District requires that all new employees attend two inservices covering the issues of (l) Bloodborne Pathogens and (2) Harassment. Attendance at each inservice must occur before the end of the school year during which the employee was hired.
The inservice on Bloodborne Pathogens will offer information to MMSD employees on how to limit and/or prevent occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials and to prevent the possible transmission of bloodborne pathogens.
The intent of the inservice on Harassment is to ensure that District staff and students can work and learn in a harassment-free environment. The inservice focuses on sexual harassment and covers a wide range of actions, all of which can have legal consequences and some that involve allegations of criminal conduct.
If an employee's work shift conflicts with scheduled inservices, arrangements should be made with his/her supervisor to be excused in order to fulfill required attendance at both inservices.
