A booklet entitled MMSD's Group Life Insurance Plan, which provides more details, is available from the Department of Human Resources.
Board Contribution to Premium

B. Additional Life Insurance Options
Each employee eligible for basic life insurance may purchase supplemental life insurance equal to up to 200% of his/her earnings at his/her own expense.

b. they work 50 percent time or more (applies to teachers)
The disability plan commences after 75 calendar days or 55 work days of absence, whichever is sooner. For additional information, contact the Department of Human Resources or review the booklet available through that department titled Long Term Disability Plan.
III. Liability Insurance
District employees are protected from liability that results from lawsuits brought against them when they are engaged in actions while working in their official capacity as employees of the District.
The District provides liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence at no cost to the employee.
In cases in which an employee is determined to be acting beyond his/her authority, the employee would be responsible for defending himself/herself and, as a result, the employee would pay all the litigation-related costs.
IV. Worker's Compensation
1. Worker's compensation provides for medical expenses and wage benefits for employees injured on the job, pursuant to Chapter 102 of the Wisconsin Statutes. All employees who qualify for Worker's Compensation receive supplementary wages equal to full salary for a maximum of 180 work days.
2. If a certified worker's compensation claim is contested, the Board continues to pay the employee's full salary during the period of disability up to a maximum of the number of teaching days following the date of the accident, equal to the number of sick leave days then accumulated by such employee, providing the employee files a written request for such payment with the Board. When the contested claim is settled in favor of the employee, the provisions of the preceding paragraph are retroactively applicable and the number of sick leave days consumed is restored to the credit of the employee.
