Trades Application Process
Thank you for your interest in seeking employment as a Trades worker
with the Madison Metropolitan School District. Applications are
accepted only when an open position is posted. Most positions require
you to complete our application form as well as an experience inventory.
All applicants are administered a proficiency exam; we will contact
you to schedule your exam with the Wisconsin City and County Testing
Service.
The top four to six candidates with the best combined test scores
and experience/qualifications will be referred on to the department
supervisor/principal for an interview. After your interview, we
will check references, and the supervisor will inform you that you
are recommended for hire or that you are no longer under consideration.
If you are hired, Human Resources will be notified and will send
you a New Hire Packet with forms that must be completed before you
start working. These forms include:
State (W-4) and Federal (W-T4) tax forms
Verification of Employment Eligibility
Candidate Disclosure Statement (so the District can conduct a criminal
records check)
We will also authorize you to have a pre-employment physical performed
at Concentra Medical Centers. When we receive all the required forms
and the results of your physical, you will be able to begin working.
If you should have any questions regarding the screening and hiring
process for Clerical/Technical employees, please contact Elaine
Wirsbinski, Personnel Analyst, at (608) 663-1748.
If, because of a disability, you require the assistance of auxiliary
aides or services in conjunction with the Trades application process,
please call (608) 663-1748 or TTY (Telecommunications Device for
the Deaf) (608) 663-1744 to make arrangements.
