The Hub, a clothing store, had been in business for a long time. The store opened in 1898 by my great great grandfather, F.J. Schmitz and his partner, Mr. Karsten on 22-24 W. Mifflin Street. By 1921, F.J. Scmitz bought Mr. Karsten out of the business for $20,000. In 1946, a fire destroyed the Hub. By the next year a new Hub opened on 22-24 W. Mifflin Street.
