August 21st or 25th, 2009: Registration Day: NINTH GRADERS!!! THE GOVERNOR WILL GUARANTEE ADMISSION TO A TWO OR FOUR YEAR COLLEGE IF YOU AGREE TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS. YOU CAN STILL SIGN UP FOR THE "WISCONSIN COVENANT" ON THE DAY YOU REGISTER AT MEMORIAL. Check out the details on the state's "Wisconsin Covenant" website, and look for registration materials at Memorial.

September 2, 2008: First Day of School: Ninth graders only. (Grades 10-11-12 start on September 3).

September 15 , 2008: Attend Go To School Night: 6:30 p.m.
A good opportunity to meet teachers and to learn expectations.

Coming up in September - October, 2008:
Ninth grade guidance counselors will be checking in with all ninth graders, via a small group format, as to their adjustment to the high school world. They will also meet weekly with the grade nine core teaching teams and communicate as necessary with parents/guardians

November 13th-14th, 2008
Parent Teacher Conferences (Sign-up for appointment times is at Go-To-School Night, September 15, 2008, 6:00 p.m.. For late sign-up call the main office at 663-5990.)

February, 2009
Course Selection for Fall 2009: Counselors will present course selection materials and information to students during classtime on February 2nd, 2009. An evening briefing will be available to parents Thursday night, February 5th, 2009 at 7:00p.m. in Theater 300. Students and parents should complete the course selection card together and return it to the social studies teacher by the February 13th deadline. Counselors will do brief individual check-ins with freshmen during core classes between February 2ndand the 13th. Feel free to consult with your guidance counselor during this important decision making time.

April 20th- 24th, 2009: Grade Nine Career Exploration Unit:
Ninth graders will join their counselors in our computer lab to establish their career exploration portfolios, and to begin to build their post high school life plan. For details, click here EXPLORING SOME FASCINATING CAREERS

June 9-12, 2008: Final Exams.

FRESHMAN: YOU WILL CREATE SUCCESS FOR YOURSELF IF YOU:

Stay organized! Follow teacher recommendations for organizing your notebooks, folders, and materials.
Manage your study time! Keep up on your homework. Use the assignment notebook.
Improve your study habits. Visit the homework help and study skills part of this webpage. Ask your teachers for suggestions about studying for their particular classes. See your guidance counselor.
Remember that every grade counts during high school. Your grade point average starts now.

Monitor and encourage the above recommendations for success.
Maintain regular communication with teachers by following up on progress reports (sent out the sixth week of each quarter) and on report cards(sent out after the ninth week of each quarter).
Attend Go To School Night on Monday, September 15, 2008, 6:00 p.m.
Attend Parent Teacher Conferences November 14th, 2008. (sign-up is at Go-To- School Night: September 15th)
Call teachers with questions/concerns @ 663-5990, and follow-up with the assigned guidance counselor as needed.
Counselors will deliver course selection information to students in early February, along with all necessary materials to carry home. There will be an evening presentation for parents/guardians on Thursday February 5th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m., in the auditorium, for all who wish to be briefed on the registration process. Parents and students are encouraged to discuss course selections, consult with your counselor as necessary, and return the course selection card by February 13th.
