Apprenticeships offer incredible opportunities for anyone with a high school diploma. Apprenticeships combine immediate work and pay, on-the-job training, and tuition-paid training at your local technical college. See you school counselor for details.
You can actually make money while you are learning a trade or occupation with the Wisconsin Registered Apprentice Program. This program is ideal for employees who want to earn and learn.
Apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and classroom-related instruction through which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly-skilled occupation. There are hundreds of apprenticeship programs available in construction, service and industrial occupations. Programs range from 2 to 5 years in length. The apprentice learns through hands-on experience and related classroom instruction. Plus, the apprentice receives the technical back-up necessary for a complete understanding of a chosen field. The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) provides the related instruction component to supplement the apprentice's on-the-job training. By statute, registered apprentices are paid their hourly wage to attend 144 hours of trade-specific schooling per year. Additional coursework may be required.
